INTERNATIONAL APPROACHES TO NUCLEAR AND RADIOLOGICAL SECURITY

The International Approaches to Nuclear and Radiological Security (IANRS) initiative was launched in 2002 and created an international community of experts from 27 countries organized in seven working groups to accelerate and expand international programs to secure nuclear and radiological materials.
The inaugural IANRS conference took place in September 2002 in London -- chaired by IAS Directors, John W. Wood and Dr. Evgeny Velikhov, and co-hosted by the US Department of Energy - National Nuclear Security Adminstration, the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Atomic Energy (MinAtom) and the Russian Research Center "Kurchatov Institute".
